Svay Rieng Court Questions Victims in SEZ Shooting Case
The Svay Rieng Provincial Court on Friday questioned three female factory workers who were shot, allegedly by Bavet City Governor Chhouk Bundith, during a protest inside a special economic zone (SEZ) in February, the plaintiffs said. More than 20 union leaders and labor activists also gathered in front of the courthouse to observe the questioning, which human rights groups have criticized for dragging on at a painstakingly slow pace because of the involvement of a senior government official. “We gathered in front of the courthouse today because we are deeply concerned about the safety of the three victims,” Mr. Tola said. …
